At the intersection of interactive design and the web, Yehwan Song’s practice explores the transformations of the internet and the shifting positions progressively assigned to its users, from simply using interfaces to consuming content and ultimately producing data. By introducing elements of friction into environments designed to be seamless and “easy to use,” she makes visible the infrastructures underlying digital technologies and the mechanisms that shape the ways in which we participate in them.
